PGR and Crawfordville welcomes Navy Vet Chris Reeves home.
Yesterday early morning about 21 Patriot Guard Riders, some from as far as Panama City met to welcome home Navy 1st class Petty Officer Christopher Reeves, who had been assigned to an army unit in Iraq, home from his tour of duty.It was especially gratifying seeing all the new riders that turned out. Especially when the skies did not look to promising.
Although some in Tallahassee may not understand it, those that ride on these missions learn fast how much these service men and their families appreciate being welcomed home.
With cooperation from the Tallahassee Airport we parked in the area reserved for cabs and formed a flag line inside the airport. And presented our respects as Petty Officer Reeves and his family left the airport.
From there we escorted him, without assistance from TPD or Leon County Sheriff through Leon on County into Wakulla County where we were picked up not by one, but by two Wakulla
County officers who blocked traffic as we headed to the County Courthouse where he was given a welcome home by local officials.
Subsequent to the welcome at the courthouse the Wakulla Sheriffs deputies escorted us and the Reeves family to Panacea and the landing Restaurant Where we once again expressed our gratitude and departed. We thank you Sir for your service.
We also thank the Wakulla Sherrifs deputies who no matter the time of day or weather have yet failed to suit up and show up. We also want to thank the numerous cars traveling the opposite direction on divided highway that did not have to stop, but did stop to pay their respects and say thanks you. We also would like to thank The crowded fire station with citizens hollering out their thanks and the fire trucks parked out by the street to blow their horns as Petty Officer Reeves passed by.
We don't see this support in Tallahassee and/or Leon County. Thats sad, very sad.
