The Gorki Theater with Schlingensief Classic: DAS DEUTSCHE KETTENSÄGENMASSAKER
The Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin is showing a recorded presentation of Christoph Schlingensief’s theater production DER ZWISCHENSTAND DER DINGE on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 9:00pm. Before the recorded presentation, Christoph Schlingensief’s movie DAS DEUTSCHE KETTENSÄGENMASSAKER from 1990 will be shown at at 7:30 pm.In summer 2008, film and theater director Christoph Schlingensief began a collaboration with the Maxim Gorki Theater. Here, together with a group of actors, he could work on the subjective story of his illness. Using the numerous writings that he had drafted since being confronted with cancer, he presented a reflection of his experiences that went far beyond language. These initial productions in June and July of 2008 were not opened to the public. But in November of 2008, he staged his work in a few, limited performances at the Gorki Studio. Before the recorded presentation, Christoph Schlingensief’s movie DAS DEUTSCHE KETTENSÄGENMASSAKER from 1990 will be shown at at 7:30 pm.
This Schlingensief classic portrays the first hours of German reunification as a national slaughter fest.
