No need to call your cable operator or blame those dark circles under
Kathie Lee Gifford and
Hoda Kotb's eyes on evil HDTV.
The bosom buddies and hosts of the "
Today" show's chatty fourth hour have vowed to really expose themselves with a brave experiment in beauty honesty: Tomorrow, May 13, they will take to NBC's airwaves sans makeup.
For their "dare to go bare" episode,
Gifford and Kotb "want to lift the painted veil and show viewers what they look like au naturel, without a stitch of makeup," the morning news and entertainment show said in a statement.
The hosts are promising to give their lipstick the kiss off and ditch the mascara while revealing their true selves as well as giving viewers a glimpse into the beautification process that normally takes places before broadcast.
The show tells
StyleList contributing correspondent Sara Haines will also face the camera without a speck of makeup as well as "Today" style editor Bobbie Thomas, who will demonstrate fresh-faced tricks of the trade, which we're eager to see. Pinching cheeks and
smashing berries to rub into their nude lips, maybe?
Were the "Today" ladies inspired by the crop of celebrities who have defiantly refused to
submit to the Photoshop treatment and posed for magazine covers clean-skinned?
StyleList asked NBC for additional comment on the host's inspired plans, but got none.
So we'll be tuning in for the naked truth.
