Video: Did Conan O’Brien’s show steal local sketch group’s double comedian bit?

Conan has been in reruns for the past week and a half, but the show is still in the news for a potentially ripped sketch performed right before the show’s hiatus.

The AV Club reports that a sketch group from Cleveland, Last Call Cleveland, alleges Conan swiped the premise for a simultaneous stand-up comedy performance starring comedians Jon Dore and Rory Scovel. Their demanded compensation? Allowing the sketch group to perform on the show.

Check out the group’s side-by-side comparison in the video below. What do you think, dear reader: is this a case of plagiarism, or just a coincidence? What we do know is that Dore has been doing this bit for years– maybe even before Last Call Cleveland.

Ok, we found Dore performing his double comedian sketch in Oct. 2009 with comedian Lynn Shawcroft. Check it out.
