Princess Victoria joins fight against breast cancer

Cancer is a horrible disease which affects families each and every day, the Swedish royal family is certainly not immune. Last year, Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson was diagnosed with breast cancer and by the time of the announcement she had already undergone three surgeries, chemo and radiation. At the time she was quoted as saying how happy she was that Sweden was a world leader in this area. This week saw her niece, HRH Crown Princess Victoria take up the cause of the fight against breast cancer and visit one of those leading hospitals. She visited Karolinska Hospital in Solna, the sister hospital to the one her aunt received treatment in. She visited the radiology unit of the hospital where much of the treatment of cancer patients occurs. During the visit the Crown Princess was visibly very serious and focused on understanding the work. She wore a light blue maternity dress highlighted by a pink ribbon, the universal symbol of the fight against breast cancer. Princess Christina’s prognosis is unknown to the public, but after her treatment completed she said she hoped to “be a support for others.”
