For a collection replete with silks, suedes, and sequins, the Cynthia Steffe Spring 2010 collection is surprisingly boyish: these clothes are the sort you'd see on that girl you know who's always borrowing her boyfriend's clothes, mixing them with just the right tiny skirt to make the look all her own. The playful drop-waist and pastel minidresses are attractive, if not entirely surprising for the brand. The jackets, however, are fantastic - especially at their price point. The Courtesan usually loves to follow her favorite edgy and dark chic designers every season here at Fashion Week in NYC. One designer who surprised me quite a bit this season, was Cynthia Steffe. I remember meeting Ms. Steffe back in her heyday, voted by People Magazine as one of the most beautiful people in the world. She was designing ladylike, refined collections for ladylike refined women. This collection however, showed some sharp, dramatic, hard rock and roll looks, with some seriously sexy outifts and soaring stiletto heels. Here is Ciara backstage at the Cynthia Steffe show, during New York Fashion Week. Ciara wore a very cute and sexy velvet form fitting black dress. In the back it had an exposed zipper, and the top detail was sheer. This dress is very stylish, but I do wish she would have worn some accessories. They really could have made her outfit pop.
