Roma want to have contract talks with Daniele De Rossi , and try an iron out a new contract with him before the big spending English clubs come knocking. The Italian midfielder is being pursued by both Manchester City and Manchester United as his contract expires in2012 which allows other clubs to approach him in January.

De Rossi could actually end up not costing anything in the summer, if he agrees to a move, but finishes the remainder of his contract at Roma first. Which would be a worst case scenario for the Series A club, and one they would like to prevent.

Talks with the 28-year-old de Rossi are moving at a snail’s pace, but Roma will try and speak with him again in the last few days before the transfer window opens with a hope to end all speculation that he could move.
De Rossi has played his entire career in Rome , which makes Roma think that at the end of the day if they offer him a half decent contract that he will stay.
There are rumors though that he would like a new challenge, so both Manchester teams are waiting should Rossi turn down Roma’s deal.
