A Dinosaur guide. Dinosaurs were vertebrate animals that dominated the terrestrial ecosystem for over 160 million years, first appearing approximately 230 million years ago. Our knowledge about dinosaurs is derived from a variety of fossil and non-fossil records, including fossilized bones, feces, trackways, and other impressions found in dig sites.
Just a few weeks after tiny, early Raptorex kriegsteini was unveiled, a new wrench has been thrown into the family tree of the tyrannosaurs. The new Alioramus altai a horned, long-snouted, gracile cousin of Tyrannosaurus rex shared the same environment with larger, predatory relatives.
