Ellen DeGeneres on Everlasting Love and 'American Idol'

Things seem to be going really well for Ellen DeGeneres. She says her wife Portia de Rossi will be with her "till the day [she] dies," she's a new American Idol judge, and she even got to pose with Oprah on the cover of December's O magazine -- no small feat, since someone other than Ms. Winfrey has only graced the mag's cover once before!

Ellen gushed to Oprah (via Us magazine) in the issue about how she and Portia are "perfect for each other." She said: "I have that sense of 'I'm done now.' I'm settled. I know that part of my life is taken care of. I've got love. I've got someone who will be with me till the day I die."

The two have been together since 2004, and married in 2008, before California's Proposition 8 banned same-sex marriage. They tied the know in a small ceremony at their home, and seem happy as can be still. "She is so beautiful and so smart and so funny," Ellen said.

Hopefully Ellen will be smart and funny herself on her gig as Paula Abdul's replacement on AI this coming season. "They came to me, and it was a total surprise," she said. "I like to try new things because I get bored so easily. And I like the show, so I thought it was a great idea."
