Frankie Avalon Sings Venus on American Idol

During tonights American Idol results show, Scott MacIntyre was the 6th finalist eliminated from the competition.  MacIntyre was the first blind contestant in the 8 seasons of the show and inspired the many who followed him.  But that wasn’t enough as his poor performances couldn’t save him. 

The big suprise on the show was the appearance of Frankie Avalon coming out and singing his hit song Venus.  Many of you may be asking - who is Frankie Avalon?  Here’s a quick intro:

Frankie Avalon was an actor, singer, and former teen idol in the 1950s.  He was one of the pop idols of his era who helped legitimize rock and roll in American culture.  He had seven top Ten hits, his most famous ones being Venus and Why, both in 1959.
