Hawaii Housing Slowdown; Sellers Taking Huge Hit
KHON2 news took a look at the local housing market in their popular Dollars and $ense segment.
--> When news organizations start reporting that "The challenging real estate market is giving way to new options to sell", that is code word for a housing market gone awry. These new options are only considered when the market is, well, tanking. It is quite evident that Hawaii's housing market has significantly slowed down - as reported in this segment.
Homes are taking longer to sell these days, unless owners are willing to take a hit.
But times are changing, tipping the scales in favor of qualified buyers. Some owners are lowering prices for a quick sale.
“Buying a home is the last bastion of hope in terms of having something to write off on your income taxes. They've taken everything away except for your interest that's deducted on your mortgage,” said Wittington.
