Farmers' markets are an amazing resource. Fresh produce, meats, dairy, often raised without pesticides or even organic, and definitely more energy efficient than buying food that has been shipped across the country or across the ocean. A lot of the time, you can speak with the people who actually grow your food to learn about the many varieties only available through these markets. Since the items are seasonal, it is a constantly changing pallette of colors, tastes and scents, and an unending inspiration for fresh home-cooked cuisine.

With the growing concern about produce quality in the back of the consumer's mind, farmers markets, like the one held on the Paxton Town Common every Friday, are not only a reliable source for high quality fresh produce, but also a haven for local character.
