Saladino committed fouls on his first, fourth, and fifth attempt, and his winning distance of 8.56 was recorded on his third attempt. Second place went to American Dwight Phillips with 8.54 and third to France's Salim Sdiri with 8.23 meters. Saladino is the reigning men's Olympic and World long jump champion - and as such he's a tremendous source of pride for all Panamanians.
