St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was tragically killed in a car accident in April 2007.
Rounding out the awards handed out by the Baseball Bloggers Alliance (BBA) for its inaugural 2009 campaign, Catcher Joe Mauer (Minnesota Twins) and first baseman Albert Pujols (St. Louis Cardinals) were overwhelmingly named Most Valuable Player of their respective leagues.
