Marcia Gay Harden to christen cruise liner in NY

American actress Marcia Gay Harden will christen a ship tomorrow.

Harden, 50, was named the godmother of Carnival Cruise Lines’ new cruise ship, the Carnival Dream.

The invitation-only ceremony in New York on Thursday will be streamed on the company’s website from 4pm EST.

Harden is a compelling actress who has appeared in the classic Mystic River with Sean Penn and in Pollock, about the US artist Jackson Pollock.

Senior Cruise Director John Heald of Carnival will preside over the event on the 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream, which was unveiled in Europe. The vessel will run voyages from New York before it docks in Port Canaveral, Florida, and launches a year-round Caribbean service on December 3.
