Stars come out to honour Nelson Mandela... as Naomi is forbidden from the stage

A host of stars from the worlds of music, movies, and sport were out in full force in London tonight to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 90 birthday.

Among the the array of guests at the star-studded bash in London's Hyde Park was Naomi Campbell, who had been removed from the playlist of Mandela's birthday concert on Friday at the request of the man himself.

The former South African leader personally told organisers to take the supermodel off the list of presenters following her recent air rage conviction.

Earlier this month, the Streatham-born beauty was fined and sentenced to 200 hours' community service last week for assaulting two police officers on a BA flight at Heathrow in April.

A source close to the event said: 'The man himself intervened and she was pulled off the list. He was disappointed with her recent arrest - particularly as she was wearing a 46664 baseball cap at the time.'

This was Mr Mandela's prison number-during his 27-year sentence and now promotes his AIDS awareness campaign.

Despite being left out of the concert, Campbell arrived at Mandela's birthday bash on the arm of her new boyfriend, Brazilian businessman Marcus Elias.
