Norman Hsu the Hillraiser
Norman Hsu is a political machine. He's a major New York City fundraiser for the Democratic Party and for Hillary Clinton in particular. He earned his nickname the Hillraiser by raising over $100,000 for Hillary's presidential campaign.
Ex-political fundraiser goes on trial in NYC
A federal prosecutor in New York City has accused former top Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu (SHU) of forcing others to make illegal political contributions.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Rua (ROO'-ah) Kelly says Hsu used his associations with political families including the Clintons and the Kennedys to boost his image and raise money for his illegal Ponzi scheme.
Hsu pleaded guilty last week to wire and mail fraud, admitting he cheated investors of at least $20 million. But he insists through his lawyer that he never made illegal political contributions.
Defense lawyer Alan Seidler (SEYD'-ler) told jurors Tuesday that greedy investors in Hsu's fradulent schemes made political donations to win his favor.
