Des Plaines Girls Softball is now offering a fall league for girls currently going into third grade through high school. Games will be played once a week on Sundays at either 1 or 3 p.m. Rainouts will be played on following Saturdays.

The current trend of declining enrollment in Des Plaines School District 62 will continue, slowly but steadily, over the next five years. By 2013, a professional demographer predicted Monday night (July 21) the district's enrollment would probably drop from its current 4,537 to about 4,330.  

Time marches on, but Bob Vormittag of Des Plaines keeps up with it very well. The former high school physical education teacher and fitness fanatic took home 10 more top-three medals at the 2008 area Senior Olympics held July 14-25 in Park Ridge, Niles and surrounding suburbs.
