Rudolph Giuliani

Why would Giuliani suddenly come out against gay marriage?

I'm still soaking in the fact that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has decided to come out against gay marriage.
When I moved to Manhattan, Rudy was still mayor; and I thought it was really cool that a Republican supported the gay community so much.
Now, that all seems to have changed. On Monday, the New York Post quoted Giuliani as saying marriage "both traditionally and legally, has always been between a man and a woman and should remain between a man and a woman."
What?! I'm sure this is just another way for Rudy to flip-flop between his own liberal views and maintain his hold on the Republican party, but I'm tired of it!
Giuliani is most likely considering a run against David Paterson for Governor in 2010, and if not he'll most definitely take another stab at the White House in 2012. If he starts aligning himself with the conservative base now, then I'm sure he'll have them wrapped around his finger before the next election. That's how Rudy works. He already has the religious right defending him. That's right, Giuliani who previously supported gay marriage and abortion. The same man who openly committed adultery while in office. The Republicans and the religious right are starting to seem pretty desperate!
I'm not falling for it anymore! Thanks to his comments against marriage equality, Rudy is off my radar for good!
