Madame Tussauds New and Improved Amy Winehouse

 
Today (7/23/08) Madame Tussaud's London, along with her parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse, unveiled the 6 foot tall Amy Winehouse wax figure made in the troubled singer's likeness.

Recreating the Rehab singer was not an easy task.  It took 20 sculptors and artists four and a half months to complete the work. The craftsmen first studied photos and DVDs of Winehouse's performances as Winehouse was unable to pose for Tussauds model-makers. Amy was in the hospital. 

Her tattoos, eye make-up, and beehive also required particular attention. Her wig needed 50 per cent more hair than a typical waxwork and took more than two months to complete.  Real, human hair, was threaded strand by strand into her wax head with a special instrument like a needle.  (Insert needle joke of choice here) 

Sadly, when asked about his daughter's wax tribute, Amy's father replied,

"We're going to take this one home with us and send the real one back."
