Theo Walcott gives girlfriend Mel a £140k Ferrari

Soccer Extreme : FOOTIE'S THEO WALCOTT splashed out on a new car for his girlfriend MELANIE SLADE's 21st birthday present - a £140,000 Ferrari.

The 20-year-old Arsenal ace ordered the California model to replace the white VW Beetle he bought her three years ago.

A source said: "Melanie is over the moon. She loves the car and has even got a personalised number plate for it.

"She was scared of driving it at first, but she took it for a spin in London to get rid of her nerves." Insurance experts say Theo would have to pay an annual premium of £20,000 plus for the 193mph motor.But that shouldn't be a problem for the England winger on £60,000 a week.

He and physiotherapy student Mel met at a shopping mall in Southampton in 2006.

She was thrust into the limelight that year when Theo was selected for England's World Cup squad at the age of 17.

Mel has shunned the WAG lifestyle to continue her studies at university in London.

But she has signed a deal with outdoor clothing brand Helly Hansen. The source added: "Mel opened a store in Manchester last week. She was asked to sign her first autograph and was really chuffed." (thesun)
