Xylitol is a sugar-alcohol sweetener found in many sugar free candies, chewing gums, baked goods and dental products. In humans, ingestion of large quantities of xylitol may have a mild laxtive effect. In dogs, ingestion of even small amounts of xylitol can be deadly.
