Maccabi USA Youth Men's Basketball Tryouts Set

Dates have been finalized for USA Maccabiah Youth Men’s Basketball Team –(Born 1991-92)
Applications for the Youth Men’s Basketball Team, which will represent the United States at the 18th World Maccabiah Games, are now being accepted online at http://www.maccabiusaapp.com/. Eligible participants must be Jewish and born in 1991 or 1992. The World Maccabiah Games will take place in Israel from July 13-23, 2009. The USA delegation will leave for Israel for a pre-camp around July 2nd and a training camp will be held the week prior.
The World Maccabiah Games are commonly referred to as the “Jewish Olympics”. They take place every four years in Israel and have recently become the third largest sporting event in the world. The 2005 World Maccabiah Games attracted over 7,000 athletes from over 50 countries.
Tryout Dates for YOUTH MEN’S DIVISION:
August 23-24, Princeton, NJ (Princeton University’s Dillon Gym)
September, 6-7, Deerfield, IL (facility is called “Joy of the Game”)
September 13-14, West Hills, California (JCC at Milken)
There will be one session Saturday night, and 1 or 2 sessions on Sunday.
(No tryouts will be required for those who are Sabbath observant.)
Scott Greenman, a former professional basketball player in Israel’s Premier League and current Assistant Coach at Princeton University, will be the Youth team’s Head Coach for the USA Maccabiah Team. He was also the captain of the 2005 Maccabiah Open Men’s Basketball team that won the Bronze Medal in Israel.
There will also be Basketball teams in the Juniors Boys division (born in 1993-94), Open Men’s (any age), Open Women’s (any age), Juniors Girls (born 1991-94) and Masters (35+). The USA Maccabiah Team will participate in over 30 sports. See our website for information.
