Thinking about my younger girls - the subjects of two of my top Squidoo lenses
I write about some of my personal experiences on Squidoo and today I am thinking about my younger girls who are the subjects of two of my first, and most successful, lenses on Squidoo: Bullying at Primary School and Auditory Processing Disorder.
I wrote those lenses because I read the Squidoo e-book: Everyone's an expert, which convinced me that I had knowledge that would help people because of our own personal experiences. Over the past few years we have had to deal with the problems Sparky suffered from bullying at school and Lizzie having a common but frequently undiagnosed condition, Auditory Processing Disorder.
When I think back to all the research I had to do (and the huge amount of time it took) to find the help we needed to deal with not only the bullying but the effects of bullying on the whole family, it would have been great to find an article written by someone who had been through what we were going through.
It was the same with Lizzie's APD. For years I'd had a feeling something was not right and even now it is hard to find information on Auditory Processing Disorder.
I receive some lovely, even if at times they are sad, messages in the guestbooks of these lenses and it's a comfort to know that our experience is helping others. Bullying in schools is a huge problem and although there's lots of anti bullying campaigns, people still need to find help when it happens to their child.
So what experiences have YOU had over the years? If you have lived through it then that makes you an expert in my book. So go on, write a Squidoo Lens about it.
