French President Nicolas Sarkozy (2nd-R) and his wife Carla Bruni (R) greet Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak (L) at an official dinner at the residence of Israeli President Shimon Peres June 23, 2008 in Jerusalem, Israel. Sarkozy called for a halt to Jewish settlement activity in the occupied West Bank while also proclaiming staunch support for Israel in an address to its parliament today. At an earlier meeting with Peres, Sarkozy called for Israel to take "risks for peace."
