Bill Gast, who was in the 743 Tank Battalion which freed the prisoners from the "Bergen-Belson Death Trains" cries while recounting memories in an interview at the 30th Infantry Division Veteran's Division of WWII reunion March 28, 2008 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. "No one will ever truly understand what those folks went through," he said. "I feel privileged to be a part of this."

The annual reunion March 28, 2008 was special this year, as several Holocaust Surviviors who were liberated by American Troops, including Attachments and Battalions of the 30th Infantry, reunited with the troops who helped free them for the first time in over 60 years.
