NYC Mayor Along With NY Lawmakers Introduce 9/11 Health, Compensation Act(Joseph Zadroga)
Joseph Zadroga speaks during a news conference where members of Congress from New York and New Jersey introduced health care legislation for 9/11 victims on Captiol Hill June 24, 2009 in Washington, DC. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) introduced the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which is named for Joseph Zadroga's son, a New York City Police detective who died in January 2006 from exposure to toxins he received after working at Ground Zero for 450 hours. The legislation would ensure proper monitoring and treatment for people that face potentially life-threatening health effects due to the toxins released at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks.
