Hurricane Gustav Hits U.S. Gulf Coast

The Morial Convention Center was where thousands of stranded Hurricane Katrina evacuees were taken. Hurricane Gustav, although still powerful, was downgraded to a Category 2 storm as it began to hit the Gulf Coast, with winds slowing to 110 miles an hour.
